Layers of Identity

Everyone faces feelings of despair, but often disguise it. We see sadness as weak and happiness as strength. However, this shield of happiness has its weak points and work can be done to see past this “strength”. This armour conceals ones true self, but can take down to reveal what’s underneath.
 
My work is an examination of these layers of identity. The pen is the permanence of one’s personality, and no matter how much someone changes the past will always be a part shaping their current selves. The alerting of the paint’s colours through layering or erasing can change the representation of their emotions.
