Toronto's Microcosm
Located in Downtown Toronto, St. James Town, and the SE corner of the Rosedale Neighbourhood are 3 highly differentiated income disparities. The architecture, surrounding atmosphere, and various public spaces shape the nature of each income tier. Dramatic changes in the building usages and quality of built form is reflected in the atmosphere of each neighbourhood.
There are pronounced changes in experience when moving from one neighbourhood to the next. Simply crossing the street transforms the surrounding from an endless crowd of people to standing alone; from a skyline of skyscrapers to a skyline of trees and open fields; and from cars, buses, and bikes whipping past you to an empty street.
